The fourth set of three Moda Sampler Shuffle Blocks are now available as a free download.
All blocks are 6 inch square finished. I have been working hard to get the small sampler blocks completed accurately. Using 50 weight Aurifil cotton thread and a small sewing needle seems to help as does pressing seams open. Use a dry iron to prevent distorting the small fabric units. Reserve the use of steam for the finished block.
Block 10 by Deb Strain is a good block to use a focus print on since five on the squares are 2 inch finished. Try cutting a 2 inch square out of a note card to audition fabric before cutting.
Use your favorite method to make the half square triangle units. I like Jen Kingwell's method from block 9. Each HST unit is 2 1/2 inches prior to being sewn into the block.
Block 11 by Brenda Riddle Designs has a 2 inch finished Cat's Cradle unit in each corner. I used my Creative Grids Cat's Cradle tool to complete the block. The Cat's Cradle tool is available in the shop or by mail order...just give me a call to order since it is not currently on the website. Block 11 can be found
Zen Chic is the designer for block 12 which has 8 baby flying geese.
for Block 12. Try strip piecing the four light and dark 1 1/2" block units to save time. Sew a light and a dark strip measuring 1 1/2" by 7" together and subcut to 1 1/2" segments.
